Cooking does not have to be a tedious task, not according to Sally Mitchell anyway, who teaches viewers just how easy it is to cook gourmet healthy items at home in just under twenty minutes if you are prepare at the offset of the adventure. One wonderful video to check out is her recipe video for Salmon with Chili Mango Quinoa; which likely sounds as if it is too high level for normal cooks in the kitchen, but turns out to be delightfully easy and if watching Mitchell is any indication, fun to make as well.
In order to get started with the Salmon with Chili Mango Quinoa recipe you need to make sure you have a nice strip of salmon, some quinoa (which is like a puffy rice/couscous for those who are not familiar with it) mango, chili pepper, avocado, olive oil, and about a cup of natural yogurt. Once the ingredients are out on the table the rest is actually a snap.
Start off by adding some quinoa and water to a pot and some olive oil to a frying pan. Drop the fish in the frying pan skin side down to help protect the flavour of the fish and while it is cooking move on to the salad. Toss the quinoa with some diced red onion, diced mango, a bit of olive oil, and very small pieces of chili pepper.
Then, blend together some yogurt and avocado paste together for the dressing of the quinoa salad. Place the quinoa salad on a dish, pour over the dressing, and place a piece of salmon on the side and dinner is ready!
Research that has been conducted by BootWebMD.com has recently shown that people are getting more involved with sports as the Olympics gets closer. However, while this is generally good news for the nations fitness, there have also been more people getting injured while doing their work out.
Of all the people who were involved with the survey run by the website, half of them said that they have started a new fitness regime this year. Interestingly, unlike in previous years, the main reason people are working out is in order to improve their fitness, rather than lose weight.
Their good intentions are making them feel less stressed (44%) and more confident (31%), yet nearly one in five (16%) has sustained an injury. As well as bruises, the most common injuries are ankle or wrist sprains (26%), shin splints (23%), pulling a muscle (23%) and hamstring injuries (19%).
Over one third (39%) from the survey of 2,000 people who said they have started a new fitness routine in 2012 look online for fitness information. In fact, among the top ten search terms on BootsWebMD.com’s fitness centre are ‘hamstrings’ and ‘shin splints’, reflecting the common injuries identified in the research.
Richard Callender, fitness instructor and TV trainer from ITV’s ‘The Biggest Loser’, said: “It’s really encouraging to see so many people getting more active in 2012. Everyone has different motivations for exercising, whether it’s to keep fit, lose weight, de-stress or just to have fun and socialise with friends and family, but it’s vital they all know how to exercise safely.”
The research shows that for people to continue this positive step, stay healthy and prepare for a summer of sport, they need to be taking greater care when exercising. Over a quarter (27%) of people surveyed admit they do not feel confident they are exercising in a correct and safe way/ Reasons for injury include not following instructions properly (28%), exercising too strenuously (34%) or not being offered proper inductions (23%). A third (33%) of the injuries has led to a long-term health problem.
Dr Rob Hicks, GP and BootsWebMD.com contributor, said: “Exercising is one of the best ways for people to stay fit and healthy, and it’s important that people look after themselves and follow the correct instructions when they exercise and know what level of exercise they should be adopting. There are both short and long-term health consequences of not exercising safely and people should ensure they feel comfortable with what they are doing before they start.”
Further findings from the research showed that more women (54%) than men (52%) have taken up a new fitness routine in 2012. The age group most likely to have started a fitness routine this year is those between 18-24 (64%).
Attaining that state of euphoria where you feel good about yourself, confident in your looks and inner being is not attainable through drink or drugs or any other substances you drink or take in a pill. The solution is simple. If you want to achieve that glowing feeling, inside and out, then exercise.
Everyone wants to look good and make the best of themselves. So start at the gym. Exercise itself can be addictive and this is no bad thing. You can actually lose yourself during a workout; you can be anywhere you want in the world, doing anything you want. And at the same time, as well as toning your body you are toning your mind and improving your overall state of health.
Once you have toned your body and mind then you can start on the details. In every high street there are beauty salons, hairdressers, manicurists tanning salons and many other practitioners of the health and beauty industry. Everyone uses them so take full advantage and treat yourself. Recognize what are your good points and emphasize them. At the same time cover up any little flaws you might have.
Then we come to the really advanced section of the beauty industry. At one time the preserve of the rich and famous, now plastic surgery, Botox, collagen and suchlike treatments are available to practically everyone. True, they are not for everyone as they can be very intrusive procedures but many people swear by them as a way of not only enhancing your looks but also for staving off that dreaded hand of time.
So, whatever you choose to improve your feeling of well-being and inner and outer beauty, remember, how you look reflects your personality and also how other people look at you. Most important of all, though, is how you see yourself and feel about yourself.
FDA rules state that manufacturers cannot claim that IPL or laser hair removal is permanent unless there data evidence that this is true and the FDA themselves validate this evidence. Permission has been given to some manufacturers that they can claim their products give ‘permanent reduction’ but not that they give ‘permanent removal’.
Although laser and IPL treatments do remove unwanted hair, sometimes they do not remove all the hair and also the hair will regrow, albeit much finer. So it is, strictly speaking, hair reduction because usually it is necessary for the client to have further treatments.
Many things influence the growth of hair such as age, diet, metabolism, hormones, weight, ethnicity and even any medication you may be using. It grows in cycles and only hair in the growing cycle can be destroyed by the IPL or laser treatment. The amount of hair growing and its thickness and resilience obviously vary from person to person but it is usual to allow 4-8 weeks between treatments.
Energy in the form of light is used to destroy hair follicles when IPL and laser treatment is used. The follicle is destroyed when the handgun is pointed at it and the energy is absorbed by the melanin in the follicle. The follicle heats for a split second to about 70 degrees Celsius and is killed.
A slight problem is that most people’s skin contains melanin and this also absorbs the energy. This can burn and blister the skin of some people such as those with fair hair and dark skin. The ideal complexion for IPL/laser treatment is dark hair and fair skin. It is absolutely vital for all operatives to be fully trained and in the UK all places offering these treatments must be registered with the Health Care Commission.
