‘Honesty Scales’ appear at gym chain for first time

Fit4less, the well known low cost gym brand are rolling out a new innovation which intends to help their members focus on their weight loss goals. The system has been given the nicknames of the ‘honesty scales’ and will tell members if they have lost or gained weight since the last visited, and are thought to be the first of their kind in the fitness industry.

The premise is simple; as a member enters the gym they will trigger a sensor that is embedded into the floor, which captures their weight. It is then automatically calculated whether that member has lost or gained any weight since they last visited the gym.

Joanne Bladon a member of Fit4less in Milton Keynes was one of the first to use the new system, “I was a little shocked the first time I used the system, but think this will really help me focus on my weight loss goals”.

This ground-breaking innovation was initially trialled in Fit4less Milton Keynes and will go live on Sunday 1st April. The fast-growing Fit4less gym group plans to roll out the concept across all 16 sites and in a further 12 gyms by the end of 2012.

David Beattie, Group Brand and Marketing Director said “The inspiration came from the weightwatchers weekly weigh in, at Fit4less we strive to offer our members a great gym for less, as such we needed to automate a system to support and motivate our members weight loss goals.”

Members that gain weight over three consecutive visits to the gym will receive a phone call from the personal trainer to provide further fitness and weight loss advice.
